The varied natural beauty and remarkable history of the Pacific Northwest
inspire Steve’s art. He has enjoyed many years hiking, climbing, skiing or
backpacking in some of the Northwest’s most wild and scenic places. Now,
through his landscape paintings, he interprets his love of the outdoors.
Originally from Iowa Steve lived, worked and painted in Switzerland,
Germany and Australia before settling in Oregon. He is a ski instructor and a
volunteer in the US Forest Service Wilderness Stewardship Program. Along
with his dog Daisy, his sketchbook and paints are constant companions on
the trail.
Collectors in the US and overseas have acquired Steve’s paintings. He is a
member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and the Wy’ East Artisans’
Guild. Steve’s works are included in the permanent collection of Timberline
Lodge, Oregon (National Historic Landmark). Steve's work has also been
juried into the Watercolor Society of Oregon's shows.

About Steve
When he’s not painting en plein air, he and
his wife, Jean, share a studio near Mt. Hood
where he paints and sketches and she sews
traditional, modern, and landscape quilts. An
example of Jean's work is shown here.
